Gabriel Galmés Truyols
An English language graduate, Gabriel Galmés (1962-2001), he worked as a lecturer at the Univeristy of the Balearic Islands (Universitat de les Illes Balears) and professional education schools. Due to this, many ex-students of the Camel.la Secondary school in Manacor very fondly remember his classes that were full of energy and humour. Despite this, what makes Gabriel Galmés an important figure is his dedication to literature. With out a doubt his premature death deprives us, of a great writer.
Gabriel Galmés became known in the 1986 with the tales "Parfait amour". Later on he wrote three novels: El rei de la casa (1988), La vida Perdurable" (1992) and "el Rei de la Selva" (1996). More and more he collaborated as columnist for the "Diario de Mallorca", "Avui" and "7 Setmari" and his articles, driven by humour and the political life of the area, were followed by many.
In November 2000, he published his last book, "Una cara manllevada"
