Margalida Ferrer Alos
A teacher by profession, Margalida Ferrer Alos, has a special place in the childhood memories of many of the inhabitants of Porto Cristo, due to the fact that for many years she was the Headmistress of the Ses Comes Primary Scool. In the year 2007, she was awarded the "Cornelius Atticus del Govern Balear" prize for her pioneering work in the world of women sports on the island.
Margalida Ferrer can be counted as one of the first women on the island to practise sports such as basketball, handball, volleyball etc. Moreover, she was the first female basketball coach and the founder of the Gymnastic federation.
